IGEM sponsor Future of Gas inquiry
IGEM is pleased to sponsor Carbon Connect's Future of Gas Inquiry. This research project investigates the opportunities offered by low carbon gas to reduce the UK's greenhouse gas emissions and considers the policy developments required to enable its deployment as an energy source.
The Future Gas Series draws on recent work which has demonstrated the considerable potential for low carbon gas to contribute to the UK's attempts to decarbonise heat at an affordable cost and, in particular, assess the practical steps which are required to achieve this. This project champions the future of the gas industry and is co-sponsored by the four gas distribution networks.
The project will examine the following areas:
- Sponsored by IGEM, explore issues related to the gas distribution
network and local storage
- Issues related to the production and bulk storage or low carbon gas
- Issues related to consumers and the development of compatible
appliances

There is the opportunity to participate by attending the evidence gathering session on 16 November 2016, 9:30-11:30am in Room B, Portcullis House, Houses of Parliament. If you can't make it to London but would still like to contribute, please contact sarb@igem.org.uk to discuss this.
