Volunteers Week

Volunteers' Week 1-7 June

Volunteers' Week takes place from 1-7 June so we're celebrating all of the ways our volunteers donate their time to IGEM. From supporting local Section events to taking part in specialist committees, our volunteers are dedicated to sharing their knowledge for the benefit of the organisation, the industry and the general public. Thank you to all of our volunteers for the time you give.

Did you know:

  • over the past 12 months our Section volunteers have hosted nearly 60 events, from bespoke tours for 10 people to events for over 120 delegates, providing like-minded professionals with the opportunity to network and learn more about the industry.
  • in the first quarter of 2018, our volunteers have attended over 56 meetings across 28 technical panels in an effort to shape the future of the gas industry, providing their skills and expertise for the benefit of IGEM, the industry and the wider public.
  • the Scottish Association of Gas Managers, a group of volunteers, were the frontrunners in creating IGEM in 1851, almost 170 years ago.
  • the ages of our volunteers range from 18 to mid-80s. One volunteer has found this diversity to be invaluable as she is able to "interact with a wider variety of people who I otherwise wouldn't have the opportunity to meet".
  • our volunteers are committed to supporting the next generation of engineers through mentoring as well as shaping the future of the industry through our specialist committees.

We'd like to thank those who dedicate their valuable time to IGEM.
