Annual Seminar by Mr. Peter WY Wong
Highlights:
The Institution of Gas Engineers & Managers, Far East District Section (IGEM FEDS) has organized the 20th Annual General Meeting (AGM) on 3 June 2016 at Headquarters of the Hong Kong & China Gas Company Limited (HKCG). Over 40 conferees participated in the annual event.
The 2015/16 FEDS Chairman, Mr. Duncan WONG announced the opening of AGM and briefed the Chairman’s Annual Report to members. The report summarized the achievements that FEDS has done in the session 2015-2016. After announcing the 2016/17 session IGEM FEDS new Committee Members, Duncan completed his term in IGEM FEDS with a remarkable result. The FEDS Chairman Medal together with missions were then passed to the New Chairman, Mr. Martin KEE. Martin gave a brief account of the way forward. A big round of applause was given to the Chairmen and it is hoped FEDS will have many successful years to come.
For the 20th Annual Seminar, IGEM FEDS has proudly invited Mr. Peter WONG, Wai Yee, the Executive Director & Chief Operating Officer – Utilities Business, HKCG, and a Fellow member of IGEM, as the distinguished speaker. Mr. WONG shared with almost 100 attendees an interesting topic on “A maturing business can help propel a growing market”. Almost a hundred guests were attracted to attend. Mr. Peter WONG highlighted the business expansion and continuous growth of HKCG Group in China. He raised the critical challenges and opportunities faced when developing China market. He also shared how the Group drove changes in a new market. His vision and insight impressed the full house audience.
Following the seminar, an Annual Dinner was arranged. The FEDS 2015/16 & 2016/17 Chairmen, Duncan and Martin, together with the distinguished guest speaker, Mr. Peter WONG, were invited on stage and toasted for an excellent future of IGEM. During the dinner, two young ladies, Winky and Zita, from the FEDS Young Persons Network (YPN), lighted up the occasion with an outstanding musical show. The attendees were pampered with a melodious musical landscape, ending the night with a relaxing and joyful note.

Executive Director & Chief Operating Officer – Utilities Business, Hong Kong & China Gas Company Limited (Towngas)
Mr. Wong joined the Group in 1997, initially as its Financial Controller. Since 2002, he has been deeply involved in the development of the Group’s mainland utilities business, operating from its headquarters in Shenzhen, China. Mr. Wong was appointed to the Board of Directors of the Company in February 2013. Mr. Wong is currently the Executive Director and Chief Operating Officer of the Utilities Business and also holds directorships in various subsidiaries of the Group. He is also an Executive Director and the Chief Executive Officer of Towngas China Company Limited and a director of Shenzhen Gas Corporation Ltd., both of which are listed public companies. Mr. Wong was named consecutively as one of “The Best CEO of Chinese Listed Companies” by Forbes in 2012 and 2013. Mr. Wong is a Fellow of IGEM.
