YPN (FEDS) Technical Day

Highlights:

To provide exposure to the new generation and nourish their growth is one major objective of IGEM-FEDS. With the setup of Young Persons Network in FEDS, more opportunities and challenges are ready for young engineers in the region. Following the kicking off of annual flagship event YPPC 2018, YPN (FEDS) has arranged a Technical Day on 2 February 2018 at Shenzhen, China. Around 20 participants have joined in.

The YPN Technical Day is a comprehensive one day event tailored made for young members. It invites new generations from mainland and Hong Kong, targeting at enhancing communications across the boundaries and tightening their relationship. Technical Day includes programmes of different nature, ranging from technical content to professional development guidance. The activities namely as below:

 

Seminar on Routes to Professional Qualification in IGEM

The Honorable Secretary of IGEM-FEDS, as well as Professional Training and Qualification Manager of Towngas, Mr. Peter Chak, was invited to introduce a talk to the participants of the YPN Day. The way of acquiring IGEM Chartership and professional advice on career development were presented. Newly IGEM Chartered member, Ms. Gloriane Kam has also shared her experience in being professional recognized.

Technical Talk on Distributed Energy development in China

The technical director of Towngas Energy, Mr. Liu Qiyang, who is an experienced expert in mainland gas industry, came to the ground and delivered a technical talk on the development of Distributed Energy in China. Mr. Liu not only shared his point of view on the development trend but a completed prospect of related topics was mentioned in the seminar. The definitions, government support and policies, values, development trends and its applications were being discussed as well.

Technical Visit to Shenzhen Gas LNG Terminal

It is the last programme of the YPN Technical Day. Participants had the chance to visit the latest setup LNG Terminal of Shenzhen Gas Co. It is one major project of Shenzhen Gas in catering peak shaving within the region. The Terminal establishment has been completed at year end 2017 and is currently under the checking and monitoring phase. It is expected to be put in operation at the third quarter of 2018. Participants have visited various kinds of facilities there, including the port, tanks, ship anchor and also took a look at the facilities control center.

The technical day ends with a favorable visit at the terminal. IGEM-FEDS would like to thanks Shenzhen Gas and all related parties again for their kindness arrangement.
