Technical Visit to Towngas Desiccant Dehumidification with the use of solar thermal system at H Zentre

The technical visit to H Zentre was successfully held on 18th December 2021. The visit was co-organized by IGEM – Far East District Section and HKIE – Gas and Energy Division.

Hong Kong is a subtropical coastal city with high humidity, which leads to extremely importance of the humidity control. With the rising concern on the control of Relative Humidity (RH), gas desiccant dehumidification system has been increasingly adopted in commercial and industrial buildings to offer a comfortable and hygienic environment for the buildings occupants. Before the technical visit, a sharing session about gas desiccant dehumidification system was held at the Towngas Headquarter. Ir Sammy Kong, Senior Business Development Manager from The Hong Kong and China Gas Company Limited, introduced the latest development of dehumidification technologies and our award-winning invention, integrated D-PAU, by integrating desiccant wheel into the primary air handling unit (PAU), with the use of solar thermal system to bring further energy saving.

After the sharing at Towngas Headquarter, a technical visit to H Zentre on Middle Road, Tsim Sha Tsui was guided by Mr. Kyle Au, Engineer from The Hong Kong and China Gas Company Limited. He introduced a successful project of adopting gas desiccant dehumidification with solar thermal system which is awarded with 2021 Innovative Energy Project of the year by Association of Energy Engineer.
